181 Att a Court of the Right honrble Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c held at dividing Creek in somersett County by his said Lordships Justices of the peace and Commissioners Legally authorized to hold ye Same the third tuesday of June being the Seventeenth day of the Same month in the fifteenth Year of his said Lordships dominion &.c anno Dom 1729 Present
Proclamation being made in Common form and the sher of Somersett to witt John Purnall Gentleman makes return of the pannell of the Orphan Jury as follows &.c Edward Rownd, John Webb, Teague Riggin, Samuel Flewellin, Thomas Shiles, Chrispin Prise, Randell revell Thomas Cary, Revell Horsey, Thomas Hearn, John Rickets sen.r Martin Kennett, Richard Sturges, Peter Johnson, John Bosman, Joseph Hall, Thomas Selby, Benj.a Houston W.m Bratton and John Nickelson Whereupon Proclamation being made againe in Common form and the Jurors afd so aforesaid Impannelled being severally Called Over as yett by their Names do appear as above and thereupon they are sworn and Charged and sent out to Consider &c soon after the Jurors aforesaid being Impannelled Sworn and Charged as aforesaid Return here into Court and ^being^ Severally Called Over appear but had ^not^ agreed to any presentments Thereupon the Jurors aforesaid are discharged &c
Should Imploy him in or about the full term of time afd Inconsideration of which Servitude the afd John Collins present here in Court undertakes for to Learn the said Elias Racklife during his Servitude the trade of a Shoemaker and to read and write and at the Expiration of his Servitude to give him a new suit of Cloath and sett of Shoemakers tooles &c Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court that the said John Collins give Security for to Comply with the Covenants afd &c Thereupon the aforesaid John Collins with Thomas Collins his security both present here in Court in their proper persons Confessed themselves to Owe to his Lordship the right honrble the Lord Proprietary in the Sum of Twenty pounds Sterling of their goods and Chattells Lands and tenements Joyntly and Severally to be made and Levied to the Use of the said Elias Racklife his heirs and assigns if default be made in the Condition here under written The Condition of this Recognizance is such that if the above bounden John Collins do & Shall well and truely during the Servitude of the afd Elias Racklife the Younger learn him to read and write and the trade of a Shoemaker and at the Expiration of his Servitude to give him a new Suit of Cloathes and a sett of Shoemakers tooles and Likewise find and provide for his Said Servant Sufficient meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing during his Servitude mete for Such a Servant to have & wear &.c Then &c |
