Augt Court            1727                            18

    The Petition afd being read and heard and mature deliberation thereupon had &c wherefore
it is Considered by the Court her that a CommissioN Issue to the afd William Fasitt as by
the Petition afd is praid and that Benj.a Burton, John Miller, Isaac Marshall and Jn.o
Purnall of Somersett County Gent be Commissioners to Execute the same Commission
according to act of assembly in such Case made and provided &c

Eliza Logey
 We of the grand Jury do present Eliza Logey of Coventry Parish for bearing
of a bastard Child on or about the Last day of Janry Last Wm Lane foreman
    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherr of Somersett County that he should
    take the said Eliza Logey if &.c to answer &c and afterwards herein the same Court Came the
    said Eliza Logey in her proper person and being by the Sherr Putt to the barr is thereupon
    Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd above upon
    her Imposed says that she is guilty thereof and prays herselfe in Mercy of the Lord proprietary
    for the fact afd and makes Oath that a Certain George Ogleby is the begetter of
    the Child she stands presented for &c but hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for ye fact
    afd      Wherefore it is Considered by the Court that the afd Eliz.a Logey be whipt with fifteen
    Lashes on the Bear Back well Laid on untill the Blood appear and that she be taken &c and
    thereupon as to the Corporall Punishment afd Command is given to the sherr of Somersett County
    that he do thereof Immediate Execution according to the Judgmt afd rendered by whiping of the
    afd Eliza Logey at the Publick whiping Post with fifteen Lashes on the Bare back well
    Laid on untill the Blood appear and afterwards in the same Court Came the said sherr and
    Returns that he hath here the Execution of the Judgmt afd as to the Corporall punishm.t
    afd he was Commanded whereupon the said Eliza Logey is ordered by the Court to give security
    for all the officers their fees due by occasion of the premisses afd but for want thereof
    the said Eliza Logey is Committed into the Custody of the sher of Somersett County there to remain
    &c the said sher Present here in Court took Charge of the said Eliza Logey accordingly &c

    Elizabeth Roberts appears according to her Recognizance Entered into before Mr Will.m
    Stoughton for her good Behaviour toward a Certain Darby MccDormon and for as much as
    the said Darby MccDormon present here in court had nothing to alledge wherefore the afd
    Eliza should continue Bound &c  thereupon the said Eliza Roberts is dischared paying fees &c

    Likewise John Roberts ammer appears according to his Recognizance Entered into for his good
    behaviour and is discharged paying fees &c
