Somersett fs:   Att a Court of the Right honrble Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces
of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c held at dividing Creek in somersett County by
his said Lordships Commissioners and Justices of the peace the third tuesday of august being the
fifteenth day of the same month and in the twelfth year of his said Lordships dominion &c ann.o

for Negro to be tax
free
    To the worshipfull Justices of Somersett County now sitting in Court

the humble petition of John White of Somersett County humbly sheweth to your
                   worships that my negro Jack hath been unable to Earn his bread for three years by reason
of severall Infirmities having been twice fluxt for his sickness besides other means administred
to the great Charge of the Petitioner may it therefore pleas your worships to grant that he
may be tax free and your Petitioner as in duty bound shall pray

          The petition afd being Read and heard and mature deliberation thereupon had &c
Wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Negro Jack belonging to the afd John
white be for the future tax free as by the petition afd is prayd &c

Dick a negro boy belonging to John Davis is adjudged by the Court to be of the age of ten Years
&c

Southy Whittington
Pet.n for their Negroes to
be tax free
To the worshipfull Justices of Somersett County Court now sitting may
it Pleas your worships            Whereas your petitioners having a negro's
that past their Labour by old age desires they may be tax free and your
Petitioners shall be in duty bound to pray to Edm.d Hough Southy Whittington

    The Petition afd being Read and heard and mature deliberation thereupon had &c
wherefore it is Considered by the Court that the Negro's afd of the afd Edm.d Hough and Southy
whittington befor the future tax free as by the pet.n afd is praid &c

Kirke Gunby Comes into Court in his proper person and Brings with him a Certain Mary
Rickards his servant woman ^and^ produceth an account against her that she had absented her
Selfe Out of his Service twenty three days and four hundred pounds of tobacco paid for
taking her up when Runaway as afd and prays the Court that the said Mary Rickards
may be adjudged to serve him according to act of assembly for the runaway time afd and
for the tobacco paid as afd      Whereupon all and singular the premisses Considered and
