155 the boundarys of said Land and your Petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray The Petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that a Commission Issue to the afd Michael Holland as by the Petition afd is praid and Likewise it is Considered that Ephraim Willson, Thomas Dixon, Thomas Williams and Jeffry Long of ^the^ County of Somersett Gent be Commissioners to Examine wittnesses ^and Execute the same Commission^ according to act of assembly in Such Case made and provided &c Whereas there is All the Statutes of England that's now in force from the third and fourth years of Queen Ann Town to this time wanting for the use of Somersett County &a The Justices of said County Court agrees with Coll Levin Gale to send for the Same and they will take Care that he shall be Satisfied for them &c
take the said Sarah Staples if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards here in Court Came the Said Sarah Staples in her Own proper person and being by the Sher Sett to the Bar (and presentmt Read) is Instantly demaned how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd says that of the premisses afd as by the presentm.t afd above upon her is Imposed she is Guilty thereof (but Refuseth to discover the father of the Child afd) and is willing to pay thirty shilling for the her fine for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Court that the afd Sarah Staples be fined to his Lordship three pounds Curr.t mony for the fact afd ^to said the defraying of the County Charge^ and that she be taken to Satisfie the fine afd Likewise it is ordered by the Court that the Said Sarah Staples give Security for the payment of the Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses Whereupon William Stoughton of the County afd Gent present herein Court undertakes for the Said Sarah Staples to pay the Severall officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd &c
he should take Mary Patrick if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the afd Mary Patrick in her proper person and being by the Sher sett to the bar is thereupon Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premises afd above upon her Imposed says that of the premisses afd so as afd by the presentment upon her Imposed she is Guilty thereof and prays that she may be admitted to make fine to the Lord proprietary for the fact afd Therefore it is Considered by the Court that the afd Mary Patrick be fined to his Lordship the Lord Proprietary the Sum of Six hundred pounds of tobacco for the fact afd and that she be (taken) |
