Mathias Nichols
        bound to
Mathew Hopkins
Mathias Nichols son of Charles Nichols of Somersett County dec.d is bound by the

Court of his Own Consent untill he arrives at the age of twenty one years unto
           Mathew Hopkins he the said Mathias Nichols being fifteen Years of age last march &
the said Mathias Nichols to Serve his said Master the full term of time afd in all such Lawfull
Service as he Should Imploy him in our about his secrets keep and Commands obey &c

       In consideration of which said servitude the said Mathew Hopkins undertakes for to learn
the said Mathias Nichols during his Servitude the trade art or Science of a Cart wheel Wright &
to read well in the bible and writ and Cypher and Likewise fine and provide for his said Servant
Sufficient meat drink washing and Lodging mete for such an apprentice to have and wear and at the
Expiration of his Servitude to give him a new suit of Cloaths &c

                                    Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court that the afd Mathew Hopkins give
Recognizance in ten pounds Sterling for to Comply with the Covenants afd

                                                                                               Thereupon the afd Mathew Hopkins
present here in Court acknowledged himselfe to Owe and Stand Justly Indebted unto the afd Mathias
Nichols in the Sum of ten pounds Sterling to be Levied upon his body goods or Chattells Lands or
tenements for the Use of the said Mathias Nichols his heirs or assigns if default be made in the Condition
hereunder written

                                              The Condition of the above recognizance is such that if the above
bounden Mathew Hopkins do and shall well and truly Learn the afd Mathias Nichols during his servitude
the trade of a Cart wheel wright and Read well in the bible and to write and Cypher and Likewise
find and Provide for his Said apprentice sufficient meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing
mete for such an apprentice to have and wear and at the Expiration of his Servitude to give him
a new suit of Cloaths &c then the above recognizance to be void otherwise to remain in full force and vertue


John Parker Jun.r
        Recognizance
Robin John an Indian with Severall other of the Pocomoke Indians Comes
here into Court and makes Complaint (^by^ a Certain Lewis Disharoon who was Sworn
their Interpretter) against John Parker Jun.r of Somersett County that he had
    burnt their fence and Struck the said Indian Robin Jn.o with his fist &c

                               Whereupon it is ordered by the Court that the ^sher of somersett County^ goe and bring the said Jn.o
    Parker into Court to answer the Complaint afd with an Indian boy Called quinakin who ye detained
as a servant by the said John Parker &.c   Afterwards in the Same Court Came the said John
Parker with the afd Indian Bay Called quinakin and the afd Robin John with the rest of the Pocomoke
Indians and whereupon the said Court having heard their Severall Alligations as well on the
Part of the said John Parker as on the Part of the Indians afd and Likewise the said Parker
Confesseth herein Court that in his Passion he did Strik the afd Indian Called Robin John one Blow with
his fist and noe more &.c  whereupon it is Ordered by the Court that the said Indian Bay Called
quinakin be discharged from any further Service to the Said John Parker for and that he be thereof
acquitt and Likewise it is Ordered by the Court that the same John Parker give Recognizance in the
sum of five pounds ster with one security in the same sume for his good behaviour and appearance
at June Court Next for the County afd      Whereupon the afd John Parker with a Certain W.m Oshahannas
