146 Att the same time and place Cap.t George Dashiell's aged thirty seven years or thereabouts deposeth on the holy Evangelist of almighty God that he being Clerk to the Commissioners for Laying out white haven Town in Somersett County on Wickacomoco River in the year of Our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & seven saith that where a Cedar post now stands by the Edge of a marsh behind a house formerly belonging to Cap.t George Gale about forty two foot from the bank of the River above mentioned and in a Line drawn South twenty six degrees East to the brink of the first turn of a Creek Called Dashiells Creek alias Walkers to the best of his Knowledge was the Place where y.e uppermost or North bounder of Lott N.o six in the Town afd Sttod and further saith not The above depositions taken before us on the Lott aforementioned in presents of these Party's Concern'd the day and Year above Robert King Thomas Gillis We the Subscribers do hereby Certifie that Cap.t Jn.o MccClester & Jn.o Merrick Ellis being both present at white haven Town in Somersett County on the Lott N.o three mentioned in a Commission to us directed beareing date as above did unanimously agree in Our Presence that a Cedar post fixt near Wickacomoco River side being the Lower most southwest bounder of a Lott of the afd Town N.o ^three^ was the first Bounder of said Lott and that the said Lott should run from the first Bounder afd to wit the above mentioned post South Sixty Six degrees East Eighteen pole thence north East six pole thence North sixty six degrees west Eighteen pole thence South west to the first Bounder Given under our hands this 31.st day of July 1728 Robert King Thomas Gillis
County afd in Relation you or any three or two of you at some time and Place as to you or any three or two of you we therefore Require you or any three or two of you at some time and Place as to you or any three or two of you shall seem Convenient you mete on the afd Land Called Catherines Content you first haveing taken your Oath on the holy Evangelist of almighty God according to Act of assembly in such Case made & Provided and there Comes to Came before you or any three or two of you all such Evidences as shall be to you or any three or two of you Nominated by the said Complainent (or Deft if any) and that you Examine them upon their Corpoall Oaths to be by you or any three or two of you administred on the holy Evangelist of almighty God in the presents of the Complainent (or Deft if any) touching the truth or Remembreances of their Knowledge or any thing that may Relate to the Cause afd and that reduceing the Severall Depositions into writting You Send the Same together with this Our Commission under your or any three or two of your hand to us to Our County Court of Somrsett with all Convenient Speed Wittness Samuel Hopkins Gentm Chiefe Justice of our said Court &c On the Back side of the foregoeing Commission It was thus Endorsed viz.t Wee the Subscribers met on the Spot and Could find nither Bounders nor Evidences in Relation to the Bounds of Catherine's Content as Wittness Our hands Thomas Williams Jeffry Long Boaz Walstone |
