June Court
1727 11 of Comfort Gibbins humbly sheweth That your petitioner whilst she was a minor through the threats and proceedings of Thomas Baker was forced to sign an Instruement to serve him til she Should arrive at the age of twenty five years and by Vertue of the said Instrument ye said Baker holds your petitioner and also Refuses to allow your petitioner any thing for two years service to him before the time of Signing ye said Instrument your Petitioner therefore prays your tender Consideration of the premisses and that you will give such Reliefe in the affair as to your worships shall seem mete and your petitioner as in duty bound shall Ever pray Comfort Gibbons The afd Thomas Baker being present here in Court and the petition being ^read^ and heard and all and Singular the premisses fully understood as well on the part of the afd Thomas Baker as on the Part of the afd Petitioner and what Severall persons delivered at the bar upon oath in Relation to the premisses afd It's therefore Considered and Ordered by the Court that the afd Comfort Gibbons from her service to the afd Thomas Baker be acquitt and that the Indenture of the afd Comfort is adjudged by the ^same^ Court not good &a William White orphan of Stephen White decd Came into Court and made Complaint against his guardian William Whittington that his said Guardian doth not give him Learning according to the Interest of his Estate and Likewise prays that the said William Whittington may be ordered to give New and Better Security than before given to Comply with the Law in relation to guardians &c whereupon It is ordered by the Court that the Sher of Somersett County summons the afd Wm Whittington so that he be and appear before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somersett now sitting at dividing Creek to answer the Complaint afd And afterwards in the Same Court Came the said William Whittington in his own proper person Likewise the said Will.m White present here in Court thereupon the said William Whittington is ordered to put the afd Wm White to School and give him Education according to the Interest of his Estate and Likewise to give new and Better Security to Comply with the law in relation to guardians &c Whereupon the afd William Whittington promiseth to putt the same William White Immediately to School and Keep him at the same and likewise by August Court next to procure such Security as may be Likeing to the Court to Comply with the Law as afd &c Ordered by the Court that John Parker Sen.r pay unto John Parker Jun.r the sum of three hundred pounds of tobacco being due unto him for his attendance ten days for the said John Parker Sen.r as Evidence against Isaac Rappoon he having made oath to the same &c |
