                March Court            1725                98

to witt the fifteenth day of march anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty five Came againe as
well the afd Levin Gale his Lordships attorney who for his Said Lordship in this Behalfe prosecutes as the said
Andrew Thompson and thereupon the Said Andrew Thompson Relinquisheth here in Court his verification
afd and says that he Cannot gainsay but that he is guilty of the premisses afd and puts
himselfe in mercy of the Lord proprietary and is willing to pay three pounds for his fine for the fact
afd      Wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Andrew Thompson be fined to his
Lordship his heirs and Successors three pounds Currt money for the fact afd to be appropriated towards
the defraying of the County Charge   thereupon it's ordered by the Court that the Said Child as afd
begott of the afd Elizabeth Joyce and be Carried to the said Andrew Thompsons and that the Said
Andrew Thompson find and provide for the Said Child all Such Necessary's as may be Sufficient to
Support the Said Child and to keep it from being abused or any any way misused whatsoever
and further Its ordered by the Court that the Said Andrew Thompson give recognizance in twenty
pounds Sterling to Endempnifie ^the Inhabitants of^ Somersett County from all Burthens that might accrew by means
of the Said Child &.c   Thereupon the Said Andrew Thompson acknowledged himself to owe
and Stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord proprietary of the province
of maryland his heirs and Successors for the Use of Somersett to be Levied upon his body goods or Chattells
Lands or tenements      In Case ^the said^ Andrew Thompson his heirs Executors or administrators or
any of them do ^not^ and shall ^not^ from time to time and at all times hereafter acquitt discharge and Save
Harmless ^the Inhabitants of^ Somersett County for the time being of and from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever
for or by reason of the Birth, Maintainance, Nourishmt and bringing up of the Said Child and of &
from all suites troubles Charges or Demands whatsoever touching or Concerning the Same &c

 Somersett fs  Be it Remembred that this day to witt the twentieth day of aprill
Seventeen hundred and twenty Six Came into Somersett County Court Levin Gale Cl
of the Indictments for the Said County and for the Lord proprietary of this province
             gives the Court hereto understand and be Informed that Alexander Maddox Late of Somersett
County Planter the tenth day of march December Anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and
twenty four with force and Armes &c at the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court Committed fornication
with a Certain Rachel Porter against the Peace of the Right honrble the Lord proprietary of
this his good rule and government and also against the form of the act of assembly in Such Case made &c
whereof the Said Levin Gale for the Said Lord Proprietary prays advisem.t of the Court &c

                 Thereupon Command is given to the Sherr of Somersett County that he Should take the
Said Alexander Maddox if &c to answer &c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Alex.d
Maddox and being Sett to the Barr is thereupon Instantly demaned how he would acquitt himselfe
of the premises afd who thereupon says that of the premises afd he is no ways guilty
