Standing atthe foot of a Causey in the Corner of an old field was the first Bounder of a tract of Land Called Kirks purchase w.ch he had given to his Grandson John Gunby & further Saith Not The Deposition of Southy Whittington aged thirty eight years or thereabouts relating to the afd bound of y.e afd Land Called Kirks purchase The Deponent being Sworn according to y.e aboves.d direction Declears that he y.e Deponent as Surveyor of the afd County of Somersett did twice run out the first Course of a Certain tract of land Called Kirks Purchase & y.t he begun at a Certain pine Stump Standing in an old field as the first bounder of y.e afd tract of Land & further saith not By Vertue of a Commission to us Directed bearing Date y.e 19.th day of November in y.e tenth year of his Lpp.s Dominion & in year of our Lord God one thousand Seven hundred and twenty five by y.e Justices of Somersett County pursuant to y.e afd Act of Assembly we the Subscribers being Sworn according to the Direction of that Act as appears by y.e Indorsment on ys.d having given due Notice as ye Law requires in Such Cases went on y.e pol Mentioned in the aboves.d Depossion & there did take the abovesaid oaths on y.e holy Evanglist of Almighty God to the truth of what is aforementioned this 29.th day of January Anno Dom 1725/6 The Said Pine Stump appears in part in a spott of Clear Ground near the Marsh Between John Gunbys & Anthony Bells & this day John Gunby (before Sundry Spectators) has there Sett a Locust post Thomas Williams The Deposition of M.r Scott aged forty three years or there Jeffry Long abouts relating to the first Bounder of a tract of Land formerly Surveyed ^for^ Jn.o Kirk Late of Somrsett Coty in the province of Maryland Decd Called Middle ridge The Deponent being Sworn according to the Direction of an act made at y.e Citty of Annaplis y.e 23.d day of September 1726 Declears that he found a small Mark.d pine tree Standing on the Swamp Side of a ridge Called Middle ridge & asked his father whose tree it was his father said it was Jno Kirks he thought for Kirks Land be gone near y.e Sevanna & run over the ridge on the Great Swamp side from thence along y.e Gum and further Saith not The Deposition of Rob.t Scott aged forty one years or thereabouts relating to the first bounder of the afd tract of Land Called Middle ridge Survey.d for Jno Kirk afd The Deponent being Sworn according to the abovs.d Direction Declears that he (See) |
