87 Maryland fs: Charles absolute Lord & Proprietary of ye provinces of maryland & avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To William Planner John Jones William Fasitt John Smith of Baltemore Hundred & William Stoughton of Somersett County Gentl Greeting we do hereby authorize & Impower you or Either of you to administer ye severall oaths appointed by act of assembly as also ye oath of Justice To Samuel Hopkins John Caldwell John McClester John Handy James Dashiell John Scott & Robert King or any of them & You ye Said Samuel Hopkins John Caldwell John McClester John Handy James Dashiell John Scott & Robert King or any of you haveing Taken ye Said Oaths are Impowered to administer ye same unto ye Justices & Commissioners respectively as they are nominated in ye within Commission & we will y.t you & every of you haveing taken ye Said oaths do severally subscribe ye Test & ye oath of abjuration & for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrent & authority hereof fail not & when you have ye same so done you are to Certifie ye same under your hands & seals unto us in our high Court of Chancery with all Conveniant Speed Wittness our Trusty & welbeloved Charles Calvert Eq.r our Captain Generall & Governour in & over this our province of maryland this thirty first day of January in ye 11.th year of our Com.n &c annoq Dom 1725 (great Seal) Charles Calvert Which being read and heard thereupon the Said William Planner, John Jones William Fasitt, John Smith of Baltemore hundred and William Stoughton of Somersett County Gent Pursuant to the dedimus to them directed administred the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly to be taken to the government with the New Oath appointed by act of Assembly of Justice to Samuel Hopkins Jno Caldwell, Jno Macclester, John Handy and John Scott who severally take the Same and Subscribe the Oath of Abjuration and test and take their places Thereupon Samuel Hopkins, Jn.o Caldwel Jn.o Macclester and Jno Handy and Jn.o Scott of Somersett County Gent administred the Same Oaths to William Planner, John Jones, William Fasitt John Smith of Baltemore hundred and William Stoughton who take the Same and Severally Subscribe the Oath of abjuration and test and take their places as followeth viz.t
Proclamation being made in usuall form the Sherr of Somersett County to witt Francis Allen Gent makes return of a pannell of the grand Jurors as followeth viz.t Adam Hitch, Jno Dennis Senr, David Dredon, Mathew Hopkins, James Mumford, Thomas Purnall Wm Smith, Lewis Rigsby, Will.m Young, Edward Wooton, Robert Hardy, George Bozeman Senr Isaiah Bredall, Adam Spence Junr, Robert Hall, Adam Spence Senr, Peter Collier, Thomas Collins, Jacob Adams, George Collier, Jn.o Gray And thereupon proclation being made by the Cryer according to Common form &c The Jurors afd Impannelled being Severaly (Called) |
