November Court
1725 70 Allen of Somersett County Gent would not swear as he said Thereupon the Said Ambross Riggin together with Richard Plunkett his security present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord proprietary of this province his heirs and successors in manner and form following viz.t the afd Ambross Riggin in ten pounds Sterr and the afd Richard Plunkett his security in ten pounds sterling to be seperately upon the bodys goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to be Levied for the Use of his Said Lordship the Lord proprietary his heirs & Successors In Case the said Ambross Riggin doe not make his personall appearance before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somersett to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday of march next to answer unto his Said Lordship Concerning all such matters and things as shall be then and there Objected against him on his Said Lordships behalfe and to stand and abide the Judgm.t of the Court thereupon; and not to depart the same Court without Lycence thereof and in the mean time that he be of the good behaviour towards his Said Lordship and all his Liege people and more Especially to the afd Fran Allen &c
here to understand and be Informed that Christopher Glass Late of the County afd Planter the tenth day of October Seventeen hundred and twenty five to Askiminiconson Indian Town in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Carry three Gallons of Syder and in the said Indian Town in the County afd within the Jurisdiction afd the said Christopher did then to sundry Indians vend and dispose of the Said three Gallons of Sider against the peace &c and also ag.t the form of the act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided whereof the Said Levin Gale for the Said Lord proprietary prays advisment of the Court herein the premisses and that due process of Law may Issue &c L Gale P Dom Prop.r Whereupon Command is given to the Sherr of Somersett County that Immediately he take ye said Christopher Glass Late of the County afd Planter if &c to answer &c And afterwards in the Same Court Comes the Said Christopher Glass in Custody of the said Sherr and thereupon the said Christopher Glass being Sett to the Bar and Information Read pleads Guilty and putts himself upon the favour of the Court ^with a protestation of his Innocency^ because he will not plead with the Said Lord proprietary and is willing to make fine to the said Lord proprietary for the fact afd &c Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that Christopher Glass be fined to his Lordship for the fact afd One thousand pounds of tobacco the one halfe thereof toward the (Support) |
