69 The Petetion afd being Read and heard and the premisses Considered It's therefore ordered by the Court that the said William Pepper have Liberty to Keep an ordinary or house of Entertainment for the benefit of travellers and Others he first Giveing good security to Comply with an act of assembly of this province now in force Entituled an Act for the Regulating of Ordinarys and for the Better Regulating of ordinary Keepers and Inholders within this province &c Whereupon the said William Pepper with William Fasitt and abraham Smith ^his security's^ all of Somersett County Gent present in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary his heirs and Successors in twenty pounds Sterr Joyntly and Severally to be Levied upon their bodys goods or Chattells Lands or tenements for the use of the Said Lord proprietary his heirs and Successors In Case the Said William Pepper doth not pay unto the honrble Philomon Lloyde Esq.r Deputy Secretary of the province of maryland or his order five hundred pounds of tob.o for Every Year he shall Keep an Ordinary or hous of Entertainm.t and Likewise find and provide himselfe with all Such Necessarys as is mete for such an Ordinary Keeper and further that he Comply with the afd act of assembly in every respect &c James Hogg of Somersett County Comes into Court and Brings a Child into Court that he found at his door (as 'tis said) which Child through Inspection of the Court appears to be a mollatto and twas though thought was Born of the body of a Certain Ann Davis a white woman as by Intinuation of a Certain Sarah Hogg wife of the afd James Hogg &c Whereupon the Court doth proceed to Sell the afd Child unto the biggest Bidder for the Use of the County Whereupon the said Child ^is^ Names by the Court Hope and afterwards was Sold unto Robert Mitchell of Somersett County Gent till he did arrive to thirty one years of age according to Law for the Consideration of five hundred and ten pounds of tobacco to be paid for the Use of the County in the County Levey &c John Caldwell of Somersett County Gent is appointed by the Court Overseer of the Road in wickacomoco hundred for the Ensueing year from James King's to Coxes Branch and that the Road from James Kings to the Cyprus Bridge be no Longer a County Road but that a new Road be Cleared from said Kings Over Coxes Branch to Stevensons Bridge according to the direction of Said Caldwell and Ebenezer Handy &c Ordered by the Court that John Reed be Overseer of the Road in Wickacomoco hundred from Windsors bridge to James Kings &c Ordered by the court that John Holder be Overseer of the Road in Wickacomoco hundred from Stevensons bridge to Coxes Branch and to his former Bounds &c
