And the said Robert Martin by Francis Allen his attorny Cometh and Defendeth the
force and Injury when &c and prayeth Leave to Imparle hereinto untill the Next Court
and he hath it and The same day is Given to the afd Francis Mercer also        Att which said
Next Court to witt the seventeenth day of November Ann Dom one thousand seven hundred and
Twenty four Cometh again ^as well^ the afd ^Francis^ Mercer as the afd Robert Martin by their attorney's afd and
thereupon the said Robert Martin by his said attorney Prayed further Leave to Imparle
hereunto untill the Next Court and he hath it and the same day is Given to the afd Francis Mercer
also                     att which said Next Court to witt the sixteenth day of March Ann Dom One thousand
seven hundred Hundred and Twenty four Came again as well the afd Francis Mercer as the afd
Robert Martin by their attorneys afd      And the same attorny saith that he is not Informed by the same
Robert Martin his Clyant of any answer for the same Robert to the afd Francis Mercer in the plea afd to
be given and nothing Else thereof Saith by that the same Francis Mercer Remains against the afd Robert
Martin thereof undefended &c
                                              Therefore it is Considered by the Court here the same day and Year
Last mentioned that the afd Francis Mercer Recover against the afd Robert Martin as well the sum of
One hundred ^pounds^ Curr.t money of Maryland his debt afd as also the sume of three hundred and sixty five
pounds of tobacco by the C for his Damages which he sustained as well by occasion of the detention of that Same
debt as for his Costs and Charges by him about his Suite in that part Expended ^to^ the same Francis Mercer by the Court
here of his assent adjudged & the afd Robert in Mercy &c

 Somerset County fs:  Joseph Venables of Stepney parish in the County
afd Gentleman was attached to answer unto John Carruthers of a plea of trespass
upon the Case &c                                    And whereupon the said John by
    George Dasheil his attorney Complaines that whereas the afd Joseph the twentieth day of aprill One thousand
seven hundred and twenty four at the Parish and County afd within the Jur of this Court was Indebted
to the afd John In the sum of Twelve hundred pounds of Tobacco as Pr Account hereunto Anexed
Annexed May in Court appear and Thereof Being Indebted the Said Josheph In Consideration
Thereof the day and year afd at the Place afd within the afd Jurisdiction upon himselfe assumed
and to the said John Then and There faithfully Promised the said Twelve hundred pounds of ^tobo^
To be paid to the Said John when afterwards he should be Thereto Requested Nevertheless the sd
Joseph his Promise and assumption afd in form afd Made Little reguarding Blotting & fraudulently
Intending the Said John In that part Craftilly and Subtilly to Defraud & Deceive the afd sum of
Twelve hundred pounds of Tobacco the said Joseph although he was thereto requested the
