267 sum of twenty pounds ster.ll upon his body goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to be made or Levied to the use of the said William Kendall Mathews his heirs or assigns if it happen default be made in the Condition hereunder Written The Condition of the above Recognizance is such that if the above bounden Peter Dickenson his heirs Executors ^and adm.rs^ do and shall hereafter dureing the servitude of the afd William Kendall Mathews Learn him the trade of a hous Carpenter and to Read well in the bible and to write and at the Expiration of his servitude to give him a new suite of Cloaths and to find and provide for him sufficient meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing dureing his servitude afd mete for such an apprentice to have and wear &c then the above Recognizance to be void &c
afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force and armes &c one pair of Leather hopples ^of the value of thirty pounds of tobo one horse Bell^ of the value of one hundred and twenty pounds of tobacco being the proper goods and Chatells of a Certain John Lingley of the afd County then and there being and found then and there feloniously did steal take and Carry away against the Peace of the Right honrble the Lord proprietary of this province his good Rule and Government and against an act of assembly of this province Dashiell Cl of Indictmts Test James Bowcher, Jno Lingley On the Back side of the foregoeing Bill of Indictm.t it was thus Endorsed vizt Billa Vera William Lane Foreman Thereupon Command was given to the Sherr of Somersett County that he should take the said William George if &c to answer &c and afterwards in the same Court Came the said William George ^in his proper person^ in Custody of the said sherr into whose Custody ^before that time^ was Committed for the Cause afd and being by the Sherr sett to the barr (Indictm.t read) is thereupon Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the felony afd ^as by the Indictment afd^ above upon him Imposed says that he is in no ways Guilty thereof and for tryall thereof ^he^ putts himselfe upon the Country and George Dashiell ^Gent^ who for his said Lordship in this Behalf Prosecutes Likewise Thereupon Command is given to the sherr of Somersett County that Immediately he Cause to Come here twelve &c by whom &c who Neither &c to Recognize &c because as well &c of which said Precept the said Sherr to witt Francis Allen Gent Now hereat this day to witt the twentieth day of the June month anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty seven Comes and makes return of that he hath here ready twelve &c as by his said Preceipt he was Commanded and the Jurors Jurors |
