1726 257 bound to some person Else Whereupon the said Robert Chambers by his own Consent is bound by the Court unto the Reverend Thomas Fletcher untill he arrives to the age of Twenty One Years he being fifteen Years of age the first of June next the said Robert Chambers to serve the said Thomas Fletcher the full term of time afd In consideration of which servitude the said Thomas Fletcher promiseth to Learn the said Robert Chambers perfectly well ^to read^ in the bible and ^the^ trade of shoemaker dureing his servitude and at the Expiration of his servitude to give him a new suite of apparell and to find him his said apprentice dureing hs servitude meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete for such an apprentice to have and wear &c whereupon the said Thomas Fletcher is ordered to give good security for to Comply with the Covenants afd &c Thereupon the said Thomas Fletcher present here in Court acknowledged himselfe to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto the said Robert Chambers his heirs and assigns in the sum of twenty pounds sterrling good and Lawfull money of England to be Levied upon his body goods and Chattells Lands and tenements for the use of the said Robert Chambers In case the said Thomas Fletcher do not Learn the said Robert Chambers to Read ^in^ the bible perfectly well and the trade of a shoemaker dureing his servitude and at the Expiration thereof to give him a new Suite of apparell and Likewise to find and provide for his said apprentice meat drink washington Lodging and Cloathing dureing his servitude afd mete for such an apprentice to have and wear &c Somersett fs: By Order of Somersett County Court march the 21.st 1726 That Jn.o Dennis Sen.r of Somersett County Gent be Overseer of the road from Nanseongo to Snow hill ferry in the stead of Jn.o Murray, and that all the Labourers that assisted the said John Murray in Clearing of the said road be deemed Labourers to assist the afd John Dennis In Clearing of the same &c And as to the Repairing of the Causway that leads to the said ferry on this side pocomoke River its further Ordered by the Court that all the male Taxable Labourers Living in the Indian Town be deemed Labourers to assist in Repairing of the Causway when warned by the ^afd^ Overseer and likewise that Hugh Nelson, Christopher Glass, Robert Scott, John Dennis, John Scarbrough, Nath.ll Hopkins, William Bretton, Thomas Shingoe, Jeremiah Hailes, Ephridone Johnson, Donnock Dennis Jun.r, James Martin, Samuel Deverix, George Lane, Sam.ll Bratton, James Stephenson, Widdow Dredon, Charles Godfery, Patrick Guttrey, Marke Scott, James Steal, John Murray, William Robertson, Jos Godfry and William Hall and all their male Taxable Labourers that Belongs to their Severall family's Joyn and assist in the Repairing of the Causway afd as well as Clearing of their Roads as formerly under their severall overseers by them used to be Cleared &c |
