that whereas according to the Laws and Costomes of the Kingdome of England and this
province of old used and aproved oa all persons are required to Keep & Secure so safely
and Carefully their fires day and ninth that ^no^ to Damage whatsoever shall happen to
any person by Meanes of the Negligent & Improvident Keeping thereof Nevertheless
the afd Jn.o & Henry the tenth day of March Anno Dom one thousand Seven hundred and
twenty five at Somrsett County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court office so Clear
Carelessly did Kindle make and keep that by meanes of their making & Negligent and
Improvident Keeping thereof the said fire the dwelling plantation of the same W.m
the day and year afd within the afd Jur (in which said Plantation ye said W.m Roberson
was then and there possessed of an Indefezable Estate of Inheritance in fee simple)
did Enter and the Grass of the said Will.m to the value of three pounds Curr.t mony and
one Pine tree of the said Williams of the value of five pounds Curr.t mony there
Late Growing and five hundred fence Railes of the value of five pounds Curr mony
of the goods and Chattells of the said W.m then and their being then and their did
Burn Consume and Wholy Destroy to the Great Damage of the same W.m and agt
the Costome afd Whereby the same William Says he is worse and hath damage to
the value of thirty pd.s Curr mony & thereof he brings this Suite &c

       And the afd Jno & Henry Polk by Geo Dashiell their attorney Come and defend the
force and Injury when &.c and pray Leave to Imparle hereunto untill the next Court
and they hath it and the same day is Given to the afd Plft here also

       Att which said next Court to witt the sixteenth day of August Anno Dom one thousand
seven hundred and twenty Six Came again as well the afd W.m as the afd Jno & Henry by
their attorneys afd and the said Jn.o and Henry by their said attorney pray further Leave
thereof to Imparle here untill the Next Court and they hath it and the same day is
given to the afd William here also

       Att which said next Court to witt the fifteenth day of Novem Anno Dom one thousand
seven hundred and Twenty six Came againe as well the afd W.m as the afd Jno & Henry
by their attorneys afd and the afd Jno & Henry by their said attorney pray further Leave
thereof to Imparle hereunto untill the Next Court and they hath it and the same
day is given tot he afd W.m here also

       Att which said next Court to witt the twenty first day of March Anno Dom one
thousand Seven hundred and twenty six Came again as well the afd William as the afd
John and Henry by their attorneys afd and the same John and Henry by their said
