23 William Langford if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should Safe Keep so that he should take have his body before his Lordships ^Justices of the^ County Court of Somersett the third tuesday of June then next to answer unto his Lordship Concerning a Certain presentm.t against him found &c and that thereof he should not fail &c and that thereof he should not fail &c Att which said third tuesday tuesday of June to witt the fifteenth day of the same month anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty five being the day of the Return of the said Writt Cometh the Sher of Somersett County to whom the foregoeing Writt was directed and maketh Return thereof Endorsed vizt Cepi Corpus P Jos: MccClester Sher Therefore the said William Langford appears and being sett to the Barr presentm.t read pleads ^not^ Guilty and prays that it may be Enquired of by the Country and Levin Gale ^who^ for his said Lordship in this behalfe prosecutes Likewise Therefore Command is given to the Sherr of Somersett County that Immediately he Cause to Come here twelve &c by whom &c who Neither &c to recognize &c becaus as well &c of which said preceipt the said Sherr to Witt Joseph MccClester Gent ^makes return^ that he hath here ready twelve &c as by his said preceipt he was Commanded and the Jurors of that Jury therein Impannelled being Called Came to witt Merrick Ellis, John Dennis Senr, John Fleming, William Bratton, Robert Mitchell, Rob.t Mills, Thomas Peal, Joseph Houston, Robert Collier, John Townsend, John Till, Thomas Collins who being duely Elected tryed and sworn ^to say the truth in the premisses^ upon their Oath do say that the said William Langford is guilty of the Premises whereof he stands presented &c Wherefore it is Considered by the Court ^here^ that the said William Langford be fined to his Lordship the Lord proprietary the sum of thirty Shillings for the fact ^afd^ to be appropriated toward the defraying the County Charge which said fine of thirty Shillings ^is paid^ by Capt W.m Planner unto Capt John Jones thereupon the Said W.m Langford is Ordered by the Court to give Security for the paym.t of all the Officers Fees due by Occasion of the premisses Whereupon a Certain Joseph Langford of Somersett County Planter undertakes for the said Will.m Langford to pay the severall officers their fees due by occasion of the premisses afd &c
within the Jurisdiction of this Court forty pounds of tobacco of the Value of ten Shillings Curr.t money of the goods and Chattells of a Certain Thomas Peale then and there being found then and there feloniously did take Steal and Carry away against the peace of the right honrble the Lord proprietary &c his Good rule and dignity and also against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made &c L Gale Cler Indictm.ts Test Capt John Scott, Thomas Peale On the back side of the foregoeing bill of Indictm.t it was thus Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera (Jno) |
