20 and puts himselfe in Mercy of the said Lord proprietary and prays that he may be admitted to make fine to the said Lord proprietary for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Court that the said Samuel Taylor be fined to his Lordship the Lord proprietary the sum of two hundred & twenty Nine pounds pounds of tobacco for the fact afd thereupon the said Samuel Taylor is discharged from the presentmt afd paying the severall Officers their Fees due by occasion of the premisses afd &c Whereas a Certain Mary Wood Craft being sumoned to attend this Court to give security for the Ball of Richard Wood Crafts Estate did not appear thereupon his Lordships writt of attachm.t Issued to the ^Sherriff^ to attach the said Mary Woodcraft to appear before the Justices of said Court to give security &c Now hereat this fifteenth day of June Anno Dom One thousand seven hundred & twenty five Cometh the said Mary Wood Craft and forasmuch as the said Mary W^o^odcraft doth make it appear to the same Court that she was Noe ways Obliged to give security according to Law thereupon the said Mary woodcraft is discharged paying her fees by occasion of the premisses afd &c
of the Justices of the County afd and made Complaint that a Certain James Polke of Somersett County Planter had abused him and said he did not do him Justice and that he Owed him a Spite or Else he would not have done as he did) &c To the Sherr of Somersett County Greeting We Command you that you take the Said James Polk and him safe Keep so that you have him before the Justices of his said Lordships County Court of Somersett to be held at Dividing Creek the third tuesday of June next to answer the abuse afd and to do and receive what the same Court Shall Consider of hereof fail not at your perill and have you then and there this Writtness Samuel Hopkins Gent Cheife Justice of Our said Court this 20.th day of march in the Ninth year of his said Lordships dominion &c Anno Dom 1724 p order Thomas Hayward Cler Att which said third tuesday of June ^to witt^ being the fifteenth day of the same Month anno Dom one thousand seven hundred & twenty five being the day of the Return of the said Writt Cometh ye Sherr of Somersett County to whom the foregoeing writt was directed Cometh and maketh return thereof to the Court here Endorsed viz.t Cepi Corpus p me Joseph MccClester Sherr Whereupon the said James Polk in his Own proper person appears and being demanded if he had any thing in his own defence to Offer &c But the said James Polk had Nothing in his ^own^ defence to offer that was Materiall and the Matter of fact afd being proved upon (him) |
