                On the backside of the foregoeing Bill of Indictm.t it was thus Endorsed vizt


His Lordship

Joseph Bounds

    Whereas a Certain Eliz.a Townsend being Convict of Bareing of
a bastard Child and made Oath that a Certain Joseph Bownds is the begetter
                      of the same Child &c   Thereupon Command was given to the Sherr of
Somersett County that he should take the said Joseph Bounds if he Should be found in his
Bailywick and him should Safe keep so that he might have his Body Before the Justices
of his Lordship's County Court of Somersett to be held at Dividing Creek the third tuesday of
Augt then next to answer unto his said Lordship Concerning his begetting of the Bastard Child
afd of the afd Eliz.a Townsend and that thereof he Should not fail &c

       Att which said third tuesday of August to witt the sixteenth day of the same month
anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and twenty six Cometh the Sherr of Somersett County
to whom the foregoeing writt was directed and makes return thereof to the Court here Endorsed in
these words following vizt
                                                                            Cepi Corpus P Fran Allen sherr

    Whereupon the said Sherr altho' Solemnly Called brings not in the Body of the afd Joseph
Bounds according to the return of the writt afd thereupon the said Sherr Prays further time
here untill the next Court to be held for the County afd to bring in the said Joseph Bounds to
Answer unto his said Lordship which is Granted &c

                   Att which said next Court to witt the fifteenth day of Novemr anno Dom one thousand
seven hundred and twenty six Comes the said Joseph Bownds by George Dashiell
his attorney and Says that of the premisses afd upon him Imposed he is guilty thereof
and prays that he may be admitted to make fine to the ^said^ Lord proprietary for the fact afd
and p thereof putts himselfe in mercy of the said Lord proprietary &c

                Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the said Joseph Bounds
be taken to satisfie his fine by occasion of the premisses afd and the fine of the Same
Joseph Bounds is by the Justices taxed to thirty Shillings to be appropriated toward
the defraying of the County Charge &.c   whereupon the afd Joseph Bownds is ordered
by the Court to give Security for the fine afd and al fees that accrewed due to the Severall
Officers by Occasion of the premisses afd thereupon ^the^ aforesaid George Dashiell present
herein Court undertakes for the said Joseph Bounds to pay the fine afd and the severall
officers fees due by means of the premisses afd &c
