160 to witt William Handy, Thomas Layfeild, W.m Sasser, Thomas Pullett, Jn.o Fleming Benj.a Fooks Thos Bevins John Dennis Sen.r Cannon Winwright, James Mumford, Isaac Brittingham Robert Mills who being duly Elected tryed and Sworn to Say the truth in the premisses upon their Oath do Say that the afd Negro Jacob is guilty of the Felony whereof he Stands Indicted but do ^Know^ of no good goods or Chattells ^which^ he had at the time of the felony Committed or at any time Since Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Negro Jacob be whipt with thirty Nine Lashes on the Bare back well laid on untill the blood appear and that he Stand in the Pillowry One hour; and that he be taken &c And thereupon as to the Corporall punishm.t afd Command was given to the Sherr of Somersett County that that he do thereof Immediate Execution according to the Judgm.t afd rendered by whiping the afd Negro Jacob with thirty Nine Lashes on the Bare Back well Laid on untill the Blood appear and by Sitting him in the pillowry one hour, afterwards in the Same Court the ^said^ Sherr Returns that he has done the Execution of the Judgm.t afd as to the Corporall Punishm.t afd he was Commanded thereupon the afd Negro Jaob is ordered by the Court to return home to the ^service of the^ afd Daniell Maddox his Master &c Somersett County fs Maryland I the Subscriber on of his Lordships Justices of y.e peace for the County aboves.d do hereby Certifie & attest that the within Thomas Mitchell & William Turpin were & appointed by me at y.e Instance of Roger Woollford Esq.r Gardan of Martha Woollford & Mary Woollford to Estemate the yearly value of a Certain Plantation to them Belonging Lying on Manocan river formerly belonging to their father Levin Woollford & also to view ye s.d Plantation with the houses out Houses orchard fencing & woodland ground which they accordingly did having first Taken their Oaths on y.e Holy Evangelest of almighty god as perscribed by an act of assembly in that Case made & provided & accordingly made y.e within Return Given under my hand this 28th day of June Anno Dom 1726 W.m Stoughton Somersett County These are to Certifie whome itt doth or may Concern that by the appointment of W.m Stoughton Esq.r & at y.e Request of Roger Woollford of Dorsett County gardent of Martha & Mary Woollford we the Subscriber mett on y.e plantation of Levin Woollford in Manocan in y.e County aboves.d & their took y.e oath perscribed by Act of assembly to view the dwelling houses out houses orchards & fences that are now on y.e same & on due Inquirey into ye same we do find y.e plantation much out of Repair y.t is all y.e houses are Rotten & almost past repair y.t is a Corn house of twenty five foot Long quite Rotten a barne wants a new roff & sillls y.e Dwelling house Some new posts & Covering the (Citchen) |
