of ten pounds Curr.t mony of this province and the said John Scarbrough in the Sum of Five pounds Like mony all to ^be^ Levied upon their goods and Chattells Lands and Tenements for the use of his Said Lordships his heirs and Successors &c The Condition of the Said Recognizance is such that Whereas Elizabeth Bales did upon this Instant month of May as above Spacified take here Corperall Oath upon the holy Evangelist of almighty god that she was gotten with Child by the said George Duffin and that he was the true father of her Child and no Other mary therefore if he the said George Duffin shall make his personall appearance before his Lordships Justices of Peace at the next County Court to be Holden at Dividing Creek upon the third tuesday of June next then and there to answer to the promises & what otherwise Shall or may be objected against him in his Lordships Behalfe and abide Judgment of the said Court & in the mean time that he be of the good Behavour towards his Said Lordships and all his Loving people that then this Recognizance to become voide and of None Effect otherwise to stand & remain in full Force Power and vertue in Law Taken p.se me the Day and year above Written Sam.l Hopkins Att which said third tuesday of June to witt the twenty first day of the same month ann.o Dom one thousand seven hundred and twenty six personally appeared herein Court the afd George Duffin &c Whereupon the said George Duffin appearance is Recorded and he and his security accordingly discharge and it is said by the Court to the said George Duffin that from any prosecution on the recognizance in relation to the Premisses afd he be thereof acquitt and it is ordered by the Court that the said GEorge Duffin give Security for the Paym.t of the Severall Officers their Fees due by occasion of the premisses and thereupon a Certain Jn.o Scarbrough of the said County present in Court undertakes for the said Geo: Duffin to pay the Severall Officers their Fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd &c
Lands & Tennements for y.e use of his Said Lordship his heirs & Successors &c The Condition of y.e Said Recognizance is Such that yt whereas y.e Said Elizabeth Bates did Complaine to me this 18.th Instant as above upon her Corporall oath taken upon y.e Holy Evangelist of almighty God yt She was gotten with Child by one George Duffin and that he was y.e true father of her Said Child so Begotten & no other man therefore if she y.e Said Elizabeth Bates Shall make her Personall appearance before his Lordships Justices of y.e Peace at y.e Next County Court to be holden at Dividing Creek upon y.e (third) |
