134 fined to his Lordship the Lord proprietary thirty Shillings for the fact afd toward the defraying of the County Charge which fine is paid by Merrick Ellis unto Capt Jno Jones for the use afd Whereupon the Said Merrick Ellis master of the Said Elizabeth Ackman prays ye Court to adjudge how Long a time the Said Elizabeth Ackman Should Serve him after the Expiration of her servitude for the trouble and Charge he was at when delivered of the bastard Child afd Thereupon the Said Elizabeth Ackman is adjudged by the Court to Serve her Said Master his heirs or assignes the full term of Nine Months to Commence at the Expiration of her already Indented or Contracted Servitude the Said Nine Months Service being adjudged by ye Court to be full Satisfaction for all troubles Charges and Loss of time her said Master was at ye time of the delivery of the Child afd, thereupon the Said Eliza Ackman is discharged whereupon the afd Merrick Ellis undertakes to deliver up to the Court the Said Eliza Ackman at ye Expiration of her Servitude to reemburst ye County the Fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd &c
having beat being Seduced and Led away by the Instigation of the Devill the tenth day of June Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty three at the Parish and County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain Person to this Inquest unknown by reason whereof the Said Elizabeth Townsend on the tenth day of March anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty three at the parish and County afd was delivered of Bastard Child against the peace &.c and against the form of the act of assembly of this province in Such Case made and provided &c On the Backside of the foregoeing Presentm.t or Indictm.t it was thus Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera James Mccmorse foreman Thereupon Command was given to the Sherr of Somersett ^County^ that he Should take ye Said Eliz.a Townsend if &.c to answer &c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the afd Elizabeth Townsend in Custody of the Sherr and being sett to the Barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how She would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd above Imposed upon her; Says that of the premisses afd above upon her Imposed She is no ways guilty thereof and thereof for tryall putts her self selfe upon ye Country and Levin Gale his Lordships attorney Likewise whereupon the ^afd^ Eliza Townsend prays Leave untill next Court to answer the premises afd and it is granted her & the (same) |
