Intending the said Betty in that part Craftelly and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the said
Ten Pounds Eleven Shillings and two pence or any Part thereof hath not paid or Contented altho'
the same to doe the same Robert by the said Betty afterwards to witt on the twenty second day of
august One thousand Seven hundred and twenty two and Often afterwards in Sommersett County
afd within the Jurisdiction afd was requested but the same to the said Betty to Pay hath hitherto
altogether refused and still doth refuse and deny whereupon She saith she is the worse and hath damage
to the value of twenty One pounds mony afd and thereupon she Brings Suite &.c

And the said Robert Gibbs in his Own Proper Person Comes and defends the force and Injury when &.c
and prays Leave to Imparle here unto untill the next Court and he hath it and the same day is given to the
Plft also                        Att which Said next Court to witt the thirtieth day of aprill Ann Dom One thousand
seven hundred and twenty three Comes again as well the said Betty Gale by her attorney afd as the said
Robert Gibbs in his ^own^ Proper Person ^afd^ and the said Robert Gibbs in his Own Proper Person as
Before defends the force and Injury when &.c and saith that he Cannot gainsay the Plft her
action afd so as afd against him Brought nor Can he say but that the said Plft Ought to recover her
damages by Occasion of the Premises afd to the sum of ten pounds Eleven shillings and two
pence Sterlling mony of Great Brittain and Costs of Suite against him which the said Plft does not
gainsay                              Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the same day and
Year Last mentioned that the said Mad.m Betty Gale recover against the said Robert Gibbs
as well the sum of Ten pounds Eleven shillings and two pence Sterlling mony of Great Brittain
Certain damages afd in form afd Confesed as also the sum of three hundred and forty one
                               pounds of tobacco by the Court here adjudged unto her for her Costs and
Charges by her about her suite in this behalfe Laid Out and Expended and ye deft in mercy &.c
