Aprill Court         1723                                      29
       Thereupon the said George Dashiel attorney of the said George Furnace (in Custody as afd) saith that
    he is not formed by the said George Furnace (in Custody afd) his Clyant of any Answer to make for him
    the said George Furnace (in Custody afd) in the Plea afd and Nothing Else then said in Barr or Preclution
    of the action afd of him the said Robert Martin whereby the said Plft remains against the said Deft
    (in Custody afd) thereof wholly undefended            Whereupon the Court adjourns untill the Last
    tuesday of Aprill being the thirtieth day of the same Month Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and
    twenty three on which day and year Comes againe as Well the said George Furnace (in Custody afd) ^Robert Martin^
    by his attorney afd as the said Robert Martin ^George Furnace^ in Custody afd^ by his attorney afd and thereupon at the Prayer of the
    of ^said^ Robert Martin by his attorney afd and by the assent of the said George Furnace in Custody afd the
    Justices here doe assess the Damages of the ^said^ Robert Martin by occasion of the Premisses afd Beyond
    his Costs and Charges by him about his Suite in this Behalfe Laid out and Expended to Eighteen pounds
    five shillings and six pence halfe Penny Current ^lawfull^ mony and seven hundred and seventy Pounds
    of tobo                                                            Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the thirtieth
    day of Aprill Ann.o Dom One thousand seven hundred and twenty three afd that the said Robert Martin
    Recover against the said George Furnace in Custody afd as well the sume of Eighteen pounds
    five shillings and six pence half Penny lawfull mony afd and seven hundred and seventy Pounds
                of tobo Certain Damages afd in form afd assesed as also the sume of three hundred and Eighty
    three pounds of tobacco by the Court here Adjudged unto him for his Costs and Charges by him about his
    Suite in this Behalfe Laid out and Expended and the deft in Custody afd in mercy &.c

 Sommersett County ss:  Robert Gibbs of Coventry Parish in the
County of Sommersett Mariner was attached  to Answer Mad.m Betty
Gale of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.c
                And whereupon the said Betty by Levin Gale her attorney Complains
    Robert the fifth day of January One thousand seven hundred and twenty that whereas the said
    Parish in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court was Indebted unto the said Betty
    ten pounds Eleven Shillings and two pence Sterling mony of great Brittaine as by accot hereunto
    annexed may in Court more fully appear and being so thereof Indebted in Consideration
    thereof afterwards to witt the afd fifth day of January in the year afd at Sommersett Parish afd
    within the Jurisdiction afd upon himselfe did assume and to the said Betty did then and
    there faithfully Promise that he the said Robert the said ten pounds Eleven shillings and
    two pence Sterling mony as also the said Betty when he should be thereunto requested
    he would well and faithfully Content and pay nevertheless the said Robert his Promise
    and assumption afd in form afd made Little regarding Butt Plotting and fraudulently
