November Court
1724 256 Somersett County fs John White Late of all hollows Parish in Somersett County Planter was attached to answer unto Edmond Hough of a Plea of Trespasse upon the Case &c And Whereupon the said Edmond by Francis Allen his attorney Complaines that whereas the said John the first day of July Ann Dom One thousand seven hundred and twenty four at the Parish and County afd with the Jur of this Court was Indebted unto the said Edmond in Seven pounds three shillings and Nine pence Currant Mony of Maryland for Sundry Goods wares and Merchandizes By the Said Edmond to the said John at the Speciall Instance and request of the Said John Before that Time sold and Delivered then and there as by an account thereof hereunto annexed may in Court appear and being so thereof Indebted the said John in Consideration thereof afterwards to wit the day and year afd at the Place afd in Consideration thereof upon himselfe did assume and to the said Edmond then and there did faithfully Promisse that the said John the afd seven pounds three shillings and Nine pence Currant mony afd to the said Edmond when he should be afterwards thereunto Requested he would well and faithfully pay and Content Neverthelesse the afd John his Promisse and assumption afd in form afd made Little reguarding ^But^ plotting and fraudulently Intending the Said Edmond in that part Craftilly and Subtilly to Deceive and Defraud the afd seven pounds three shillings and Nine pence to the Said Edmond he hath not paid or to him for the same in any wise Contented Altho the same to do the said John by the said Edmond On the Tenth day of July in the year afd and Often afterwards at the Parish and County afd within the Jurisdiction afd he was Indebted thereunto requested but the same to him to pay or in any wise to Content hath refused and still Doth refuse and Deny whereup^on^ the said Edmond saith he is worse and hath dammage to the Vallue of fourteen pounds seven shillings and six pence and thereupon he brings suit &c Allen P Qrte Pledgs Dep John Doe Richd Roe John White to Edmd Hough Dr ye 9 July 1724
