Thereupon Command is given to the Sher of Somersett County that Immediately he Cause to Come here twelve
&c by whom &c Who Neither &c to recognize &c because as well &c of which said preceipt the said Sherr
to witt the Joseph MccClester Gentl: Now hereafterwards to witt the same day & year Last Mentioned
makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c as by his said preceipt he was Commanded and afterwards
to witt the same day & year Comes as well the said plft as the said deft by their attorneys afd
and the Jurors of that Jury therein Impannelled Being Called Came to witt John Scott, Edward Round, John
Attkinson, Henry Scofeild, James Harris Charles Cottingham, Adam Spence Sen George Benston
Robt Mitchell John Fleming, W.m Young John Pope who being duely Elected tryed & sworn to say
the truth in the premises Upon their Oath doe say that the said William Mathews did assume upon
himselfe in manner and form as the said John Williamson above against him hath Complained and do
assess the damages of the said John besides his Costs and Charges to twenty and a half Bushells of Indian
Corn and for his Costs and Charges to One pound of tobacco

       Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the seventeenth day of November ann Dom One thousand
seven hundred & twenty four afd that the said John Williamson Recover against the said William
Mathews as well the sum of twenty and a halfe ^bushells^ of Indian Corn his damages afd in form afd by the Jurors
(1558)   afd in form afd assessed as also the sum of fifteen hundred & fifty Eight
pounds of tobo by the Justices here of his assent of Increas adjudged for his Costs and Charges by him about
his suite in this behalfe Laid Out and Expended & ye Deft in mercy &c

of the Provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore
&c  To Benja Burton, Ephraim Heather, and Wm Selby
    and Edward Rounds of Somersett County Gentl: now Greeting  Know ye that wee have appointed
you or any three or two of you to be Our Commissioners to Examine Evidences of Behalf of a
Certain Ebenezer Crapper of Somersett Gentl in the relation to the Bounds of a Certain tract of
Land Called Assateague Fields wee therefore Command and require you or any three or Two of You that
at some Time and place as to you or any three ^or^ two of you shall seem Convenient you meet on the
afd Land Called assateague Fields and Cause to Come Before you or any three or Two of You all such
Evidences as shall be to you or any three or Two of you Nominated By the said Complainant and that
you Examine them on their Corporall Oaths to be By you or any three or Two of you administred
on the Holy Evangelist in ye Presents of the said Complainant (or Defendant if any) Touching the
Truth or remembrance of their Knowledge or anything That may relate to the Cause afd and
that reduceing the severall Depositions into writeing you send the same together with this
our Commission under your or any three or Two of your hands to us to our County Court of Somersett
with all Convenient speed Wittness Joseph Gray Gentl Chief Justice of Our Said Court the 19th Day
of August in the 9 year of our Dominion &c  Ann Dom 1724
