234 Ann and being sett to the Barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd says that of the premisses afd she is Guilty thereof and makes oath that a Certain William Chamberlain is the begettor of the Child she stands presented for and is willing to pay her fine for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the said Ann Woods be fined to the Lord proprietary for the fact afd the sum of six hundred pounds of tobo Whereupon its Ordered by the Court that the said Ann Woods give security for the payment of the fine afd and the severall Officers their Fees due by occasion of the premisses thereupon a Certain Lazarus Maddux of somersett parish present in Court undertakes for the said Ann Woods to pay the fine afd and the severall officers their Fees due by occasion of the premisses afd &c Ordered that James Bowcher be overseer of the road from Broad Creek bridge halfe way to the Cow bridge it being the halfe of W.m Burtons Limmitts from the Cow Bridge &c Whereas a Certain John Loockey petitioned this Court to be tax free Giv &c the premisses Considered Its therefore Ordered by the Court that the said John Lockey be tax free for the future &c Whereas a Certain John Davis petitioned this Court to be tax free &c The premisses Considered Its therefore Ordered by the Court that the said John Davis be tax free for the future &c Whereas a Certain Mathew Dorman and Abraham Heath having Repaired the bridge over Manocan River at ye head thereof as p agreem.t the said Mathew Dorman and Abraham Heath present here in Court is Ordered by the Justices to give recognizance in thirty pounds Sterr Each for the Keeping the said Bridg in good repair at their Own proper Costs and Charge ten years &c Thereupon the Said Mathew Dorman & Abraham Heath acknowledged themselves to Owe and Stand Justly Indebted un^to^ his Lordships the right honrble the Lord proprietary his heirs and successors in the sum of thirty pounds Sterr Each to be Levied on their body goods and Chattles Lands or tenements In Case they do not Keep the said Bridge in good Repair at their Own proper Costs and Charges ten full years In consideration thereof they the said Mathew Dorman & Abraham Heath are to be allowed Each P Year the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco p the year &c |
