230 Somersett County fs: Att a Court of the Right honorble Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c held at Dividing Creek in Somorsett County the third tuesday of November (by his Lordships Commissioners and Iss Justices of the peace) being the seventeenth day of the same month before and in the Ninth year of his Lordships Dominion &c ann Dom 1724 Present
Proclamation being made in Usuall form and the Sher of Somersett County to witt Joseph MccClester Gentl: being Called to make return of the pannell of the Grand Jurors return the same which Jurors are as followeth vizt
appeared and present to the Court here the following presentm.ts being Content that the Court Should amend form altering noe manner of Substance in them viz.t Presentm.t against Elianor Collins, Mary Perdue W.m Thompson, Ann Nutt, Catherine McDonnold, Ann Woods, Phenix Hall, Sarah Pusey, thereupon the Grand Jurors are discharged and ordered that they be allowed the sum of five hundred pounds of tob.o for their Publick service service this Court and against the severall persons afd presented its Ordered that Capias Issue &c Somersett County fs: November 17.th 1724 In Pursuance of an order of Court we the Subscribers have been at the head of Manocan River at the house of Mr Henry Ballard in order to view and regulate the standard of weights and Measures and do make the following Report viz.t We do find as followeth of measures one bushell, halfe Bushell and Peck, which we think and do allow of to be Just as also One Gallon pottle, quart, and pint and of weights wee find ten fifty sixes to be Just, other six fifty sixes we find to be Light Which M.r Ballard afd hath promised to repair and make Exact and as for Cloath Measure we find abrass Yard and an Ell of wood Wittness John Purnall, John MccClester Whereupon the said Henry Ballard present here in Court is Ordered to Give security in fifty pounds sterr for the safe Keeping the Standard afd and for the due Execution of the Office of Standard Keeper and for the delivery of the same Standard in like good order as when received when the same shall be demanded of & from him &c thereupon the said Henry Ballard with William Stoughton Esq.r his security present in Court acknowledged themselves to owe & Stand Justly Indebted unto the right honourable Charles absolute Lord & proprietary of the provinces of maryland &c his heirs and successors, Joyntly and Severally to be Levied on their Bodys Goods or Chattles Lands or tenements (for) |
