220 person by means whareof she afterwards to witt the first day of may seventeen hundred and twenty three at ye County afd within the Jurisdiction afd was delivered of a bastard Child against ye Peace &c and also against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made & provided &c L Gale P L ppy And now here afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of august ann Dom one thousand seven hundred & twenty three four Comes the said Mary Cook and being by the sher of Somersett County sett to the Barr Information Read pleads not Guilty and submitts to the Mercy of the Court but Refuseth to declare the father of the Child Neither hath any Body to pay her fine for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the said Mary Cook be whipt at the publick whiping post with twenty five Lashes on the Bear Back well Laid on untill the blood appear and as to the Corporall punishm.t afd Command is given to the sherr of of Somersett County afd that he do thereof Immediate Execution according to the Judgmt afd Rendered by whiping the afd Mary Cook at the Publick whiping post with twenty five Lashes on the Bear Back well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards in the Same Court the Sher Retains that he has done the Execution of the Judgm.t afd as to ye Corporall punishm.t afd he was Commanded And afterwards the Said Mary Cook present in Court makes Oath on the holy Evangelist that a Certain William Thompson is the father of the Child she stands accused of thereupon Its Ordered that Capias Issue against the said William Thompson to answer &c Thereupon Ephraim Willson her Master undertakes for the said Mary Cook and acknowledged himselfe to owe & stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary in the sum of ten pounds Sterr to be Levied on his Body goods or Chattles Lands or tenements for the use of Somersett County In Case he doth not return ye said Mary Cook to Somersett County at the Expiration of her servitude or to the sher of the County &c William Taylor of Somersett County Gentl: appears according to his Recognizance Entered into before the honrble Joseph Gray Esq.r and is discharged and is ordered to give New recognizance for his appearance at Novem Court next and prosecute a Certain Samuel Riggin and Daniel Hall of Somersett County on an action of assault &c Thereupon the said William Taylor of present in Court acknowledged himselfe to Owe & Stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary in the sum of ten pounds sterr Each to be Levied on his body Goods or Chattells Lands or tenements for the Use of his said Lordship In Case the said William Taylor do not make his personall appearance before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somersett at dividing Creek ye third tuesday of November Next and Prosecute the said Samuell Riggin and Daniell Hull in an action of assault &c
