Aprill Court 1723 Are Impowered to administer the same to the Justices and Commissioners respectively as they are Nominated in the Within Commission and wee Will that you and Every of you and every of you haveing taken the said Oaths do severally subscribe the Test and Oath of abjuration and for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrent and authority hereof fail not [illegible] and when you have the same so done you are to Certifie the same under your hands and seals unto us in Our high Court of Chancery with all Convenient Speed Wittness our trusty and well Beloved Charles Calvert Esq.r Capt Gen.ll and governour in Chiefe in and over this Our Province of maryland the 17.th day of Aprill in the Eighth Year of Our Dominion &.c Ann Dom 1728 Chas Calvert (greatt Seal) Upon Reading the afd Commission and dedimus Potestatum the said Joseph Gray administred the severall Oaths in the said Dedimus Potestatum mentioned to Charles Ballard W.m Fausett John Smith William Stoughton John M.ccChester and John Handy and the said Charles Ballard administred the same Oaths to Joseph Gray Samuel Hopkins William Whittington W.m Planner John Purnell and John Jones and they all severally subscribed the Test and Oath of abjuration as ^by^ the same dedimus Potestatum they were directed and thereupon they take their Plaints on the Bench as follows vizt
Thomas Hayward Clerk tooke the severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly with the Oath of Clerk and subscribed to the Oath of abjuration and test &c W.m Tazewell Levin Gale George Dashiels and Alexd Hall Gent Practitioners of the Law in this Court tooke the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly and they all severally subscribed the Oath of Abjuration and test &c Samuel Merchement Cryer of this Court took the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly and subscribed to ye Oath of abjuration and test &c Joseph Gray of Sommersett County Gent Brings a negro Boy into this Court Named Mercelles who was Imported into this Province in the Sloop Called Thomas Handy Master and Prays the Courts approbation of the said Mercelle's age The said Negro Boy Called Mercelles afd Present here in Court &c the Court doe adjudged the said Negro Boy to be of ye age of six years this term &c John Leatherberry appointed Overseer to Clear a road from Jarves Jenckins to George Hutchins at ye New ferry over Wickccomoco River &c |
