189 the peace of our said Lord proprietary his good rule & Dignity wherefore the said Levin Gale for our said Lord proprietary prays advisement of the Court herein the premisses & that due process of Law may Issue Levin Gale P Dom Propr Whereupon the said Joy hobbs appears according to his Recognizance Entered into Last Court and being sett to the Bar is thereupon Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premisses above Imposed upon him says that of the premises afd upon him Imposed he is guilty thereof & is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices that the said Joy Hobbs be fined to his Lordship the sum of two hundred pounds of tobacco for the fact afd thereupon the said Joy Hobbs Is Ordered to give New recognizance for his Good Beheaviour dureing the pleasure of the Court Whereupon the said Joy Hobbs acknowledged himselfe to owe & Stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship his heirs and successors in the Sum of ten pounds Sterlling to be Levied on his goods and Chattles Lands and tenements for the use of his said Lordship In Case he is not of the good beheaviour to all his Lordships Leige people and more Especially to the people Called the Indians dureing the pleasure of the Court &c Whereupon Its ordered by the Court that the sher of Somersett County Bring into Court a Certain Henry Courtman to answer his Corruptly and deceiptfully practiceing of Physick &c whereupon the said sherr soon after appeared and Brings into Court the said Henry Courtman to answer &c Thereupon It's Ordered by the Court that the said Henry Courtman give security for his appearance at next Court to answer &c best for want thereof the said Henry Courtman is Committed into the Custody of the sherr thereto remain the said sherr present herein Court took Charge of the said Henry Courtman accordingly &c But afterwards the said Henry Courtman is Discharged from the Custody of the sherr afd &c
seven hundred & twenty three with force and arms &c at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Sarah Wright in the peace of God and our said Lord proprietary then and there being violently made an assault with Intention the same Sarah Wright then and there to ravish and Carnally to Know and other harmes to the same Sarah Wright then and there did to the great Damage of the same Sarah Wright and against the peace of our said Lord proprietary his good Rule and dignity Levin Gale P Dom propr Whereupon the said James Driskill in his own proper person appears and prays Leave untill next Court to answer ye Premisses afd and it is granted him and the same day is Given unto Levin Gale his Lordships attorney (who for his said Lordship in this Behalfe prosecutes) also Att which said next Court to witt the sixteenth day of June ann Dom one thousand Seven hundred & twenty four Comes againe ^as well^ the said James Driskell in his proper person as the said Levin Gale his Lordships attorney (who for his said Lordship in this behalfe prosecutes) and the said James Driskell being (sett) |
