189 Thereupon it's ordered by the Court that the said William Miles give recognizance for his good behaviour and appearance at Next Court Whereupon the said William Miles present here in Court acknowledged himselfe to Owe and Stand Justly Indebted unto the right honourable ye Lord proprietary his heirs and successors in the sum of ten pounds sterr to be Levied on his body goods or Chattells Lands or tenements for the use of his said Lordship In Case the Said William Miles do not make his personall appearance before the Justices of our County Court to be held at Dividing Creek the third tuesday of august Next to answer unto his Lordship Concerning all Such Matters and things as shall be then & there objected against him on his Lordships behalf and to stand & abide the Judgmt of the Court thereupon and not to depart the same Court without Lycence thereof & in the mean time to be of the good behaviour to all his Lordships Leige people &c Likewise a Certain William Pepper and Samuel Riggin of Somersett County Planters Present here in Court undertakes for the said William Miles and acknowledged themselves to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto the right honourable the Lord proprietary in the sum of five pounds sterling Each to be Levied on their Bodys goods and Chattells Lands or tenements for the use of his said Lordship Joyntly and Severally In Case the said William Miles doe not make his personall appearance before the Justices of our County Court to be held at Dividing Creek in Somersett County afd the third tuesday of August next to answer unto his Lordship Concerning all such matters and things as shall be then and there objected against him on his Lordships behalfe and to stand & abide the Judgm.t of the Court thereupon and not to depart the same Court without Lycence thereof and in the mean time to be of ye good Behaviour to all his Lordships Leige people &c Whereas a Certain Absolom Ford Came into Court and swore that he Never did say to Stephen Fountain as William Miles when he was worrying hoggs wee shall have fresh Pork by and by and that he never heard any Blows struck upon any hoggs by William Miles when he was in presence with Stephen Fountain
Somersett County Cooper the tenth day of January seventeen hundred and twenty three with force & Armes at ye Parish afd in ye County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Indian Called Lolloway in the peace of God and our said Lord proprietary then and there being an assault made and him beat wounded and Evilly treated so that of his Life it was dispaired and other harmes to him then and there did doe to the Great damage of the said Lolloway and ag.t (the) |
