1724 183 Liberty of Chosing Levin Gale of Somersett Gentl: as his Guardiant which is granted him thereupon the said W.m Wharton makes Choice of the said Levin Gale as his Guardiant &c thereupon It's ordered by the Court that a Certain Daniell Cordery with whom the afd William Wharton formerly Levied and Likewise had Possession of the Estate of the said William Wharton both reall & Personall deliver up unto ye said Levin Gale ^the Estate afd^ and that the said Levin Gale take possession of the same Estate &c Likewise the said William Wharton is bound by the Court & his own Cousan ^unto the said Levin Gale^ untill he arrives to the age of twenty one years the said William Wharton being fourteen years of age the third day of aprill Last the said Levin Gale to Learn the Said William Wharton to Write well and Vulgar arithmatick and to give him a new Suite of Cloaths at the Expiration of his servitude afd and to find him sufficient meat drink washing and Lodging & Cloathing mete for him the said William Wharton to have and wear &c Whereupon Its ordered by the Court that the said Levin Gale give good security to perform the part of a guardiant as above & Likewise the above Indentures &c Whereupon the said Levin Gale together with William Stoughton Esqr & Capt George Dashiell his securitys present here in Court acknowledged themselves to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto the said William Wharton in the sum of twenty pounds Sterr Money Each to be Levied on their bodys goods and Chattells Lands or tenements Joyntly & severally for the use of the said William Wharton In Case the said Levin Gale doth not in Every respect Comply with the Law in relation to Guardiants &c and Likewise Learn the said William Wharton to Write well and vulgar arithmatick and Likewise to give him a new Suite of Cloaths at the Expiration of his servitude and Likewise to find & provide for him sufficient meat drink washington Lodging & Cloathing due his servitude afd &c
of the value of two Shillings Currant money of maryland and one Mustaine Stock of the value found then and there feloniously did take steal and Carry away against the peace of our Said Lord proprietary his good Rule and dignity and also against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made & provided &c Levin Gale P Lopp Test Lazarus Madox Ann Wood & Margery Cox Sent up to the grand Jury by order of Court one the Back side of the foregoeing bill it was thus Endorst viz.t Ignoramus W.m Turpin foreman Thereupon the said Benjamin Hillard present ^here^ in Court is Ordered to give Security for the paym.t of the severall officers their fees that accrewed upon the Bill abovesaid thereupon a Certain Francis Allen of Somersett County Gentl: undertakes to pay the severall Officers their fees due upon the premisses afd Thereupon att the prayer of the said Benjamin Hillard he is discharged by proclamation in Common form &c Lazarus Maddux and William Chamberlain appears according to their recognizance Entered into before Coll: Roger Woollfed and are discharged &c |
