1723 123 to take the depositions of all such persons as shall be to them Nominated and reduce them into Writeing & to make return thereof to Our County Court of Somersett with all Convenient Speed &c Robert Edge of Somersett County being of the full age according to ^law^ Comes into Court and prays that he may have the Liberty of Choseing his Guardiant &c which is granted &c there upon the said Robert Edge makes Chose of his Mother Mary Shilley as his Guardiant &c Edward Chapman appears according to his recognizance Entered into and is accordingly discharged therefrom &c Whereupon the said Edward Chapman is Ordered to give New recognizance for his appearance at Next Court Thereupon the said Edward Chapman being present here in Court acknowledged himselfe to Owe and Stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord propriatary his heirs & Successors in the Sume of teen pounds Curr.t money to be Levied on his ^body^ goods or Chattels Lands or tenements for the Use of his said Lordship the Lord proprietary. In Case he doth not make his personall appearance before the Justices of our County Court to be held at dividing Creek in Somersett County afd the third tuesday of March next to answer unto a bill of Indictm.t against him found and to stand & abide the Judgm.t of the Court thereupon and not to depart the same Court without Lycence thereof Likewise Levin Gale of Somersett County Gentl: present here in Court undertakes for the said Edward Chapman and acknowledged himselfe to Owe & Stand Justly Indebted unto his said Lordship the Lord proprietary his heirs and Successors in the Sum of five pounds Curr.t mony to be Levied on his body Goods or Chattles Lands or tenements for the use of his said Lordship In Case the Said Edward Chapman doth not make his personall appearance before the Justices of our County Court to be held at Dividing Creek in Somersett County afd the third tuesday of March next to answer unto a bill of Indictm.t against him found and to stand and abide the Judgm.t of the Court thereupon & Not to depart the same Court without Lycence thereof then the above recognizance to be void &c Joseph Wailes of Somersett County Gent: present here in Court is Offered as an under sherr: by by Joseph MccClester Gent high sherr of the County afd who is approved of and tooke the severall Oaths appointed by Law and Subscribed to the test & Oath of abjuration &c John Sterling appointed Overseer of in Little annamessex hundred in the Stead of John Gunby &c
into Court to answer his uttering Certaine Counterfeit money of Spannish Curr ^money^ there then upon the Sher returns into Court and brings with him a C the said James Feilett; and whereupon the said James Feilett being Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the p premisses Imposed upon him had nothing to say that was materiall in his Own defence thereupon it is Ordered by the Court that the said James Feillett Give Recognizance for his appearance at next Court to answer unto his Lordship Concerning the premisses (afd) |
