95 and set free a negro boy named Levin to be free from and after the first day of January Eighteen hundred and sixteen And whereas the said negro man named Levin hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by the oath of Robert Stevens Esquire of the County afsd that the said negro man named Levin for whom this Certificate is made is the Identical person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from the age expressed in said manumission he is twenty six years of age or thereabout he is about five feet two inches high has a long scar on the right side of his face extending on his nose and a small scar on his forehead has lost the first Joint of the toe on the right foot next to the great toe and the ones next to it on each side some what injured occasioned (as he says by frost bite) of a yellowish complexion pretty well made was raised in Caroline County and no other ^particular^ notable marks that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this 16 day of (seal) June 1817 Jo Richardson Clk Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four Ezekiel Cooper of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumnit and set free a negro boy named Cloudsberry to be free from the date of said Manumission as it appears of record And whereas the said Cloudsberry has made application to me for a |
