    Maryland Caroline County to wit

Whereas application hath been made to me for a certificate
by a negro man named Nancy Babe agreeably to an
act of assembly of the said State passed at November
Session Eighteen hundred and five by which said act
free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of
the said State upon their obtention of a certificate of
being free   And whereas also upon the evidence of
Mr Jonathan Stevens of the County afsd that the
said negro woman named Nancy Babe for whom
this certificate is made is free born I do therefore
grant her said application and hereby certify that
she is five feet & one inch high or thereabout rather
of a yellowish complexion was raised in Queen Anns
County and has no particular marks necessary to
describe that I have discovered
    (seal)               In Testimony whereof I have hereto
set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office
this seventeenth day of September Eighteen hundred and

molatto woman named Priscilla Trusty who alledges
herself to have been free born; for a certificate agreeably
to an act of assembly passed at November Session Eighteen
hundred and five by which said act free negroes and
molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon
their obtention of a certificate of being free born
