91 and whereas also upon the evidence of Doctor Robert Stevens of the County aforesaid that the said Priscilla Trusty is free born. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that the said Priscilla Trusty is five feet six & a half inches high or thereabout of a light complexion was raised in Caroline County and says she was eighteen years old on the twenty first day of January last past has a scar on the side of her right hand next the little finger occasioned (as she says) by a burn is well made and of a healthy appearance and no other notable marks that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand (seal) and affixed the public seal of my office this 19th day of October Anno Domini 1816 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a negroe man named Levi Tilghman for a certificate agreeably to an act of the General assembly of Maryland passed at November Session Eighteen hundred and five by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon their obtention of a certificate of being free born. And whereas also upon the evidence of Col William Potter of the County afsd that the said negroe man named Levi Tilghman for whom this certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet seven inches high or thereabout was raised in Caroline County says he is twenty one years old has a scar on the first Joint of the middle finger |
