85 Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Two Charles Jones of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a negro man named Perry to be free on the free on the first day of January 1814 as by reference to the said manumission remaining of record in Caroline County COurt will appear And whereas the said negro man named Perry hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and upon the oath of Charles Hubbard of the COunty afs.d that the said negro man named Perry for whom this Certificate is made is the identical person mentioned afd I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from the age expressed in said manumission he is about twenty eight years old september next he is five feet three & one half inches high or thereabout of a black complexion rather thick lips was raised in Caroline County and has no very notable marks that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand (seal) and affixed the public seal of my office this twenty eighth ninth day of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and sixteen Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court |
