79 State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named Moses Hooper who alledges himself to be free born for a pass or Certificate agreeably to an act of assembly passed at November session Eighteen hundred and five by which said act free negroes and molatoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon their obtaining a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the evidence of M.rs Rachel Rhodes of Caroline County afsd that the said negro man named Moses Hooper for whom this Certificate is made is free born I do therefore grant his said application and I hereby Certify that he is five feet four inches high or thereabout rather Black stout and well made and no other notable marks that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand (seal) and affixed the public seal of my office this twenty second day of February Eighteen hundred and fifteen Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one seventeen hundred and ninety one Richard Loockerman of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a negro man named Paca to be free from and after January Eighteen hundred and eight nine as by the said manumission remaining of record in my office manifestly appears and whereas the said negro man named Paca hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to an act of assembly in such case made and provided |
