and hereby certify that the said molatto woman named
Elizabeth Carney is five feet two Inches and three fourths of an
Inch high or thereabout was raised in Caroline County has a
black mole Just above the uppermost Joint of the left Great
toe and a scar on the right Shoulder occasioned as she says
by a Cancer and says she is about twenty five years of age
and no other notable marks that I have discovered
             In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and
(Seal)    affixed the public seal of my office this sixteenth day of September
                Eighteen hundred and fifteen

Caroline County to wit      Whereas on the twenty third day of
July 1812 James Harris of Caroline County by Deed of
Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst
the Records of Caroline County and manumitted and set free a
young man of colour called Robert Harris to be free from
the date of the said manumission and whereas the said coloured
man named Robert Harris hath made application to
me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of
assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by
the oath of James Plummer of Caroline County that the
said coloured man named Robert Harris to whom this certificate
is delivered is the person named in the said manumission
I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify
that from the age expressed in the said manumission he
is twenty six years old next august has a tolerable young look
and not very dark he is five feet eight and a quarter inches
high or thereabout has a small scar in his left eye brow and
no other notable marks that I have discovered
                In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand
                and affixed the public seal of my office this 30th day
                of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred
                and fifteen                           Tho Richardson Clk
