and being satisfied by the oath of Colo William Potter
of the County afsd that the said Benjamin to whom this
Certificate is delivered is the identical person mentioned
in the manumission afs.d I therefore grant his said
application and hereby Certify that he is five feet
Eight Inches high he has a small scar in his forehead
and the nail on the finger of his left hand next his small
finger has a ridge in it he is rather of a light complexion
calls himself Benjamin Dennis rather slender made
and no other notable marks that I have discovered
                In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my
(Seal)       hand and affixed the Public Seal of my office this
                fifteenth day of August Eighteen hundred and fifteen

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit
    Whereas on the Eleventh day of august Eighteen hundred
and Three James Plummer of Caroline County by Deed of
manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded
amongst the Records of Caroline County did manumit and
set free a black man by the name of Roviour to be
free from slavery from and after the twenty Eighth day
of February Eighteen hundred and Eleven and whereas application
hath been made to me by the said black man named
Roviour according to the act of assembly in such case
made and provided for a certificate of his freedom  and
being satisfied by the oath of Eli Connelly of the County afsd
that the said Black man to whom this certificate is delivered
is the identical person mentioned in the manumission afsd
I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify
that from the age expressed in the said manumission
he is about twenty three years of age he is five feet
