I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my
Office this twenty second day of October in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven

Caroline County to wit   Be it remembered that on the 22nd
day of October 1811 I delivered to negro Nancy a Certificate
as follows viz  State of Maryland Caroline County to wit
Whereas negro Nancy alias Nancy Jackson desirous of
travelling out of the County and state of her nativity hath
made application to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably
to act of assembly in such case made and provided
          I do therefore upon the evidence of Mr Thomas Hardcastle
satisfactory to my mind that the said negro woman
called Nancy alias Nancy Jackson was born free
hereby Certify that the said negro woman from the evidence
aforesaid was born free   that she was raised partly in
Caroline & partly in Talbot Counties is now about twenty
three years of age  five feet three inches and three
fourths of an inch high  light Complexion  has
a very full mouth and big lips  tolerable high or
stout cheek bones  and has no marks which I
can discover   In Testimony whereof I have hereto
set my hand and affixed the public seal of my
office this twenty second day of october in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven

Caroline County to wit   Be it remembered that on
the 6th Jany 1812 I delivered to negro Charles a cert
a follows  Viz    State of Maryland Caroline County
to wit  whereas negro Charles the bearer hereof being
desirous for his protection and security of obtaining
evidence of his freedom hath made application to
me for a certificate agreeably to the act of assembly
in such case made and provided I do therefore
hereby Certify upon the Oath of Mrs Henerietta
