Caroline County Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1806-1827

eight hundred and seven.      Tho Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court


Caroline County to wit.  Be it remembered that on the nineteenth day of
May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven I
delivered to negro Glasgow in the following Certificate mentioned a Certificate
of which the following is a true Copy to wit

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas (a certain man
by the name of Glasgow heretofore to wit on the second day of June in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two was manumitted
by Mr Charles Blair of Caroline County to be free on the first day of
January one thousand eight hundred and six as by the said manumission
recorded in Liber T R No H Folio's 178, 179 & 180 one of
the Land records of the County aforesaid reference being thereto had will
appear; And whereas application is made to me by a negro man called
Glasgow) (whom Doctor Robert Stevens makes Oath is the identical
person who was manumitted as aforesaid) for a certificate of his freedom
as aforesaid.  I do thereby Certify that the said negro man called Glasgow
is five feet seven inches and one half high and from the age expressed
in the manumission aforesaid he is about forty one years of age is of a
black Complexion was raised till nearly grown in Dorchester County
afterwards in Caroline has a Scar on the lower part of the Calf of his
right Leg and no other notable marks which I can discover.
            In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed
(Seal)   the Public seal of my Office this nineteenth day of May in the
            year one thousand eight hundred and seven.  Tho RIchardson Clk
                                                                   of Caroline County to wit


Caroline County to wit.  Be it remembered that on the twenty first day
of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven
I delivered to negro Thomas Smith in the following Certificate named
a Certificate of which the following is a true Copy to wit

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit whereas a certain
negro man by the name of Thomas Sewell heretofore to wit on the
