Certify that from the age expressed in the said manumission the said negro
man Ben is twenty five years of age five feet eleven and a quarter inches
high of a dark Complexion was born and raised in the County aforesaid
near Tuckahoe Creek has a scar on the right side of his mouth and
a piece Cropt off his left year which scars he says he received by fightings
when a boy and there is no other notable marks that I can discover
          In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed
(seal)  the Public seal of my Office this tenth day of January
          in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & seven  Tho Richardson
          Clk of Caroline County Court


Caroline County to wit:  Be it remembered that on the sixteenth day of
May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven I delivered
to negro Harry in the following Certificate mentioned a certificate of which
the following is a true Copy to wit

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas negro Harry
heretofore to wit on the fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and six manumitted by William Whiteley
of Caroline County to be free from the date of said manumission
as by said manumission reference being thereto have will appear and
by the Oath of Robert Dixon that the said negro man Harry is
the identical person who was manumitted as aforesaid I do hereby
Certify that from the best information which I can collect that the
said negro man called Harry is about thirty years of age he is five
feet seven inches and an half high was raised in Caroline County
has a black Complexion has a scar near the left corner of his mouth
and also a small one on the left side of his head about three inches
above his year and also one small one near the right corner of his
right eye and also a Scar or Scratch about three inches Long on his
breast and no other notable marks which I can discover.  In Testimony
whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the Public seal of
my Office this sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand
