Caroline County to wit  Be it remembered that on
the twenty third day of April in the year eighteen
hundred and eleven I delivered to mulatto John
a Certificate as follows            Vizt

    State of Maryland Caroline County to wit
                Whereas heretofore to wit on the twenty
seventh day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety one Elizabeth Lecompte
of Caroline County by Deed of manumission duly
executed and Recorded manumitted and set free a
certain mulatto boy called John to be at liberty from
and after the first day of March one thousand eight
hundred and nine.  And whereas the said mulatto
John has made application to me for a Certificate
of his freedom agreeably to Act of Assembly.  Upon
the Oath of Philemon Larey that the said mulatto John
is the identical person named in the manumission
above recited.   I hereby Certify that from the Evidence
of Mr Larey the said mulatto called John is about
twenty six years of age he is five feet seven and
three fourths Inches high very bright complexion
was raised in Caroline County and has no notable
marks which I can discover.   In Testimony whereof
I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal
of my office this twenty fourth day of April in the
             year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
(seal)    and eleven Tho Richardson Clk of Caroline County
                                                                         Court

Caroline County to wit  Be it remembered that on
the eleventh day of May in the year eighteen hundred
and eleven I delivered to negro Thomas a Certificate
as follows vizt

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas
heretofore to wit on the tenth day of May in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven
James Horney of Caroline County by Deed of manumission
duly executed and Recorded amongst the Record
