Caroline County ss.t  Be it remembered that on the twenty
first day of September Eighteen hundred and ten  I
delivered to Negro Jessee a Certificate a Copy of which
is as follows
          State of Maryland Caroline County to wit
Whereas a certain negro man named Jessee heretofore
to wit on the twenty seventh day of May seventeen hundred
and ninety was manumitted by Isabel Jump of Caroline
County to be free from and after the twenty seventh day of
May Eighteen hundred and eight as by the said manumission
remaining of Record in Caroline County Court reference
being thereto had will appear; And whereas the said negro
man named Jessee hath made application to me for a
certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly
and upon the oath of Mr Selby Belt that the said negro
man named Jessee is the Identical person who was
manumited as aforesaid.  I do hereby Certify that the said
negro man named Jessee from the age expressed in the said
manumission is twenty nine years of age & is five feet
eight and one half inches high of a black complexion
considerably marked with the small pocks has a scar
on his left breast from a bite in fighting was raised
in Caroline County and no other particular marks
which I can discover
                            In Testimony whereof I have hereto
                      set my hand and affixed the public
    (seal)          seal of my office this twenty first
                      day of September Eighteen hundred
                      and ten
