Caroline County ss.t  Be it remembered that on the twenty first
day of September Eighteen hundred and nine I delivered
to negro Will a Certificate a Copy of which is as follows

                State of Maryland Caroline County to wit

Whereas a certain negro man named Will heretofore to
wit on the twenty third day of December seventeen hundred
and ninety nine was manumited by Sarah Hardcastle
and Solomon Kenton of Caroline County to be free from and
after the first day of January Eighteen hundred and one
as by the said manumission remaining of Record in
Caroline County Court reference being thereto had will
appear:  And Whereas the said negro man named Will
hath made application to me for a Certificate of his
freedom agreeably to the act of assembly.  And upon the
Oath of M.r Edward Flinn that the said negro man named
Will is the Identical person who was manumited as
aforesaid:  I do hereby Certify that the said negro man
named Will from the age expressed in the said
manumission is forty Eight years of age five feet
nine and a half Inches high of a Black Complexion
was raised in Talbot ^and^ County State of Maryland has
a scar on the back of his right hand and no other
particular marks which I can discover
                              In Testimony whereof I have hereto set
(Caroline County)   my hand and affixed the public seal of
(         Seal         )   my office this twenty first day of September
                              in the year of our Lord one thousand
                              Eight hundred and nine
