of his freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly and upon
the oath of Elijah Satterfield that the said negro Peter is the
identical person who was manumited as aforesaid.  I do
hereby Certify that from the age expressed in the said manumission
that the said negro man named Peter is about twenty
six years of age five feet nine and three quarter Inches
high; Black Complexion was raised in Caroline County
near Collinses Cross Roads has a scar on his left arm between
his wrist and Elbow and one on his wrist from the fall from
a tree both which scars are on his left arm; and no other
notable marks which I Can discover;   In Testimony whereof
I have hereto set my hand and affixed the pubic seal this
(County)   twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord one
(  seal   )   thousand eight hundred and nine

Caroline County ss.t  Be it remembered that on the thirteenth
day of September Eighteen hundred and nine I delivered to
Negro James a Certificate a Copy of which is as follows
State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas a certain
negro man named James heretofore to wit on the twenty seventh
day of August seventeen hundred and ninety one was manumitted
by Benjamin Blunt of Caroline County to be free from and after
the first day of January Eighteen hundred and one as by the
s.d manumission remaining of Record in Caroline County Court
reference being thereto had will appear:  And whereas the
said negro man James hath made application to me for a
Certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly and
upon the Oath of M.r Benjamin Blunt that the said negro James
is the Identical person who was manumited as aforesaid
I do hereby Certify that the said negro man named James is
