State of Maryland Caroline County to wit

Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of May Eighteen hundred
and nine I delivered to Negro George in the following Certificate
mentioned a Certificate of which the following is true Copy Vizt

       State of Maryland Caroline County to wit

Whereas a Certain negro man named George heretofore to wit on
the second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and two was manumitted by Charles Blair Gentleman
of Caroline County to be free from and after the first day of
January in the years of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and nine as by the said manumission remaining of Record
in Caroline County reference being thereto had will appear
And whereas the said Negro man named George hath made
application to me for a Certificate of his freedom agreeable to
the act of assembly; upon the oath of Doctor Robert Stevens that
the said negro man named George is the Identical person who
was manumitted as aforesaid.  I hereby Certify that the said
Negro man named George is five feet eight and a half Inches high
and from the age of a Black Complexion was raised in
Caroline County his fore finger on his right hand has a little
twist near the end occasioned by a Cyder mill and no other
notable marks which I can discover
                      In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand
(Caroline)       and affixed the public seal of my office this thirteenth
( County )       day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
(   Seal   )       hundred and nine

Caroline County fs.t  Be it remembered that on the thirteenth

negro Washington in the following Certificate mentioned
a Certificate of which the following is a true Copy viz.t
