217 left hand in a range with the little finger and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this twenty seventh day of September (seal) anno Domini 1826 Jo Richardson Clk of Cost 50 cts Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit: Whereas application hath been made to me by a coloured man named Wilmer Reed for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mollattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born And whereas also upon the oath of James M. Guire of Caroline County that the said coloured man named Wilmer Reed for whom this certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet seven inches high or thereabouts says he will be Fifty years of age the 14th day of October instant born and raised in Caroline County and of a ^dark^ molatto Complexion has a small scar in the corner of his right eye and a tollerable large scar of a bite on the inside of his right arm below the elbow joint and several scars on the out side of the right knee joint and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 7th day of October (seal) Anno Domini 1826 Jo Richardson Clk of Cost 50 Cents Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit: Whereas application hath been made to me by a Coloured woman named Catherine Reed for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such Case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mollattoes are are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the oath of Elizabeth Satterfield of Caroline County that the said Coloured woman named Catherine Reed for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that she is Forty |
